Question 3. Nehemiah is concerned about the people’s relationship with God, about confessing their sins and about God’s promise to Israel to gather them back into the land. He prays for help from the king. Nehemiah knows they are in exile because they have not responded properly to God in the past. Question 6. Nehemiah assumes God hears him and will answer his prayers. He is confident in God’s ability, so he asks boldly. He is familiar with history and knows God’s faithfulness to Israel in the past.
